Sunday June 3rd, 2012, Youngstown- Last week Cornelius Harris, a level 5 prisoner at Ohio State Penitentiary (OSP) resumed the May Day hunger strike, in protest of the warden's slow response to the prisoner's demands. United Steel Workers 624 On Strike

About 240 hourly workers are on strike at the Husky Energy Inc. oil refinery in Lima, OH.  USW Local 624 and Husky Energy failed to reach a contract agreement. Workers took to the picket lines May 25, 2012.  The union and Husky could not come to terms in regards to working conditions, safety and use of personal time.  Husky maintains that the company needs to reduce a "higher-than-standard" absenteeism rate. Salaried workers are currently maintaining the 155,000-barrels-a-day output of the refinery. Despite quiet, peaceful picket lines, Husky is paying for police presence during the strike.

Gathering May 16th 9 PM to protest Corporate Enclosure of OSU's parking system

Last week over 3,300 students faculty and staff stood up and signed a petition stating that the trustee board has no right to sell off our public assets including our parking lots.
The unelected corporate executives that sit on OSU’s trustee board are getting nervous, really nervous.
There are close to 100,000 students, faculty and staff at OSU. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of proud buckeye alumni. That’s a lot of people… We have a lot of power…
On May 16th and 17th the OSU community is going to let the trustee board know that we want an Ohio State where the voices of students, faculty, and staff are respected, and are given a vote on issues that impact our lives.
