Protest an Eviction! Dec. 26th, 2009!
Greg Owens, his pregnant fiancé Keesha Rutherford, and his mother and father, who live together in a small mobile home are about to be evicted on December 30th at 12 Noon. With dangerously cold temperatures, this family residing in Mt. Gilead,OH will have no place to keep warm, for no crime other than an inability to pay their bills.
However, unlike the countless others who have found themselves in similar situations, the Owens family has decided not to go quietly. They have made it clear that casting a pregnant woman, her future husband, and their parents out in the cold of winter, regardless of how unprofitable it is for a rich landlord is still wrong, still an injustice, and needs to be countered and opposed.
To Greg’s family and his allies in the Bail Out The People Movement, the warm beating heart of each of them is much more important than the cold cash needed for “rent”. That is why on Dec. 26th, the Owens family has called on their friends, relatives, neighbors, and all who oppose the injustices of the epidemic of foreclosures, evictions, and layoffs to come to "The Drive Thru 95"(this is the landlord's office also) in Mount Gilead(next to Pizza Hut) at 2PM to stand against this injustice.
We are demanding that the landlord let the Owens family stay until other arrangements can be made.
We are also demanding that a moratorium on foreclosures and evictions be declared. We are demanding that a mass jobs program being created in order to halt rising unemployment. If such things were to come to pass the Owens family, and the countless others currently suffering in this economic meltdown would be in a much better place.
HANDS OFF THE OWENS FAMILY! HOUSING IS A RIGHT! STOP FORECLOSURES AND EVICTIONS! BAIL OUT PEOPLE NOT BANKS! HUMAN LIFE BEFORE PROFITS!
