2008 Great Lakes Anarchist Gathering
The 2008 Great Lakes Anarchist Gathering will be taking place in one month, June 7th & 8th, in Toledo, Ohio.
This year's event will be an important one due to both it's chronological and geographical proximity to the upcoming Republican National Convention in Minneapolis. Activities and discussions will focus heavily on the continuing growth and development of the Midwest Action Network and regional organization ahead of the upcoming RNC.
The conference will begin Saturday at 11:00 AM with participation in Toledo's largest annual street event, The Old West End Festival, and will move into discussions and workshops at noon, with a concert taking place later in the evening. Activities will resume Sunday at 11:00 AM following a 10:00 AM breakfast.
For a variety of reasons, this is going to be a drug and alcohol free event, and we hope that anyone planning to attend will help us keep it as such. Accommodations and food will be provided for anyone in need of them, and we appreciate any help with food and sleeping supplies that participants can provide.
Now is a critical time for anarchists around the region to be able to make connections and organize with others, and we hope this event provides a good opportunity for that to happen. We have the potential for some serious victories in the near future. Join us in helping to build a powerful movement and ensure the success we're capable of.

The third annual Great Lakes Anarchist Gathering is taking place June 7 and 8 in Toledo, OH!

(Every year, the historic Old West End holds a huge festival complete with music, food, lots of garage sales, and a parade. We will be joining the parade, so feel free to bring your banners, noise makers, and other fun stuff.)

1pm: M.A.N. caucus regarding networking
2pm: RNC discussion
3pm: self defence/street tactics workshop
4pm: free style walking workshop
5pm: gardening workshop
6pm: dinner/hang out
8pm: show

11am: the basics of collective housing
12pm: women's health workshop
1pm: history of North American anarchism
2pm: Wayne Price (NEFAC) will be holding a discussion on a variety of topics, including anarchist-communism and green anarchism
4pm: video editing for activists and a screening of the "We Need Food not Bombs" documentary

The Great Lakes Anarchist Gathering is going to be an important event due to its proximity, both geographically and chronologically, to the Republican National Convention in September. With the GLAG taking place in June and the RNC in September, it will provide three month window for those in attendance to take advantage of the skills learned and share any plans made with those unable to attend.
We'll be building on the progress made over the last year and a half in bringing the Midwest/Great Lakes region anarchist communities together and strengthening the Midwest Action Network.
