Brazil: great President, Congress bad.
By Anonymous Indymedia User on 15 May 2012Brazil: great President, Congress bad.
While Dilma Roussef hits each day more, "pulling" the leveling of interest of the Brazilian public debt to international levels and begins to devise an industrial policy firmly grounded in a serious exchange rate policy and in science and technology, in addition to important tax cuts, Congress is the scene of successive corruption scandals, all them originated in the corporate funding of campaigns and in "not very corporate" funding of campaigns, and approves, with a rapporteur funded by the agro-business, apocalyptic Forest Code: A million square KM to the devastation.

By Anonymous Indymedia User on 09 May 2012During the past few weeks, I've been resisting the urge to upgrade to a better camera and a better laptop. It's part of my attempt to reject the idea that I necessarily need to buy things to be more effectively involved in the community.
End Animal Circuses Now!
By Jason on 08 May 2012
Although not the most pressing issue facing our world today, the cruelty and abuse of animals at animal circuses is still an important issue for two main reasons:
1) Living beings are being harmed for profit.
2) Families are encouraged to ignore this harm in exchange for entertainment by paying to attend animal circuses. Attending animal circuses supports trainers in "breaking" animals and forcing animals to perform.

By meow on 08 May 2012FBI returns Riseup server to May First/People Link cabinet
By Anonymous Indymedia User on 03 May 2012From the organization that hosts Columbus Indymedia.
Progressive Internet organization May First/People Link has released footage of what appears to be an FBI operation to return the Riseup.net server that they had seized two weeks ago from a colocation space shared by riseup.net and MF/PL. The footage, taken by a small surveillance camera MF/PL technologists installed after the FBI seizure of the server, is a rare glimpse of what appears to be an FBI operation.
Neither May First/People Link or Riseup was not notified that the server was being replaced. It was never notified that the server was taken in the first place.

Cece McDonald and Trans Prisoners of Color in the Prison Industrial Complex
By kiadso on 03 May 2012Cece McDonald is a 23 year old black trans woman who was with friends one summer night in 2011 in Minneapolis, MN when she and her friends were attacked by white people who were obviously racist and transphobic, based on a swastika tattoo and language used that night. The fight left Cece severely wounded by a glass to her face and one of the attackers dead.
